I am a member of Vocalpoint, a community of Moms who have the opportunity to give their opinions on a variety of topics and issues. Sometimes we’re given the opportunity to try and review products from companies, and I recently received some coupons from Barilla for a new product line: Barilla PLUS.

Along with the coupon for a FREE box of Barilla PLUS pasta for me, I got 5 coupons to give to friends. They are B1G1 coupons which will make each box of pasta $1 or less!

I have already given one coupon to the friend that inspired me to start this site, and I will be starting a contest tomorrow to give away the other coupons to two readers of my site!

We were also sent a cute game you can play during dinner time to get your family talking to each other about all sorts of things!

Here is the brief Barilla PLUS review I submitted to Vocalpoint:

Thank you for the coupons and the fun game! I used mine to buy the spaghetti since that is what we eat most often. I served it with a simple meat spaghetti sauce and it was great!

I love that it has the extra protein! Now I can feel better serving pasta with or without meat in the sauce!

It tasted great, and I made the whole box so I can have noodles ready for a quick re-heat tomorrow. Thanks for two great meals!

It doesn’t take much time to provide feedback about the product I got to try, and it keeps me connected to a community where I can learn new things and try new products, too! And, in this case, I also really enjoyed the product!

I’ll be honest. When I first went to the store to redeem my coupon for the free box of pasta, the price tag worried me a little. It was $2 for a box of Barilla PLUS spaghetti at Wal-mart. Normally I do not like to spend more than $1 on a box of pasta, but I had the coupon from Vocalpoint, so I didn’t mind. It was FREE no matter how it turned out!

After eating the pasta and reading more about what makes Barilla PLUS different from regular Barilla pasta, or any other pasta for that matter, I think even with the higher price tag I could still allow this product to fit into my meal planning.

The big difference the manufacturer points out is that this pasta has added protein, so one serving of it has 17 grams of protein. Not bad for a pasta! Because of that, you could spend less on a sauce and more on your noodles. With that much protein in the noodles themselves, you could easily serve it with a marinara sauce and still have a balanced meal. Thumbs up from me.

I made the whole box and will be having leftovers later this week. We’ll see how the noodles pass my re-heat test! I’ll let you all know!

But, back to Vocalpoint…

Participating in communities like Vocalpoint is a great way to find out about new products and try them for FREE. You also have the opportunity to give feedback directly to the companies, which is your chance to let them know what you like and don’t like. Vocalpoint has member surveys, focus groups and product testing opportunities from tons of big brands.

They also send newsletters once a week with the latest message board conversations, and that’s where you will find out about opportunities to get involved with company feedback. The conversations on the boards aren’t just about products either. They discuss all sorts of things that are helpful when you’re trying to pinch a few pennies!
