[Update 2/20/2011: Readers are beginning to run into problems finding stations in their area with loyalty cards to give out, so ASK FIRST and then decide if you want to buy gas!]

I am a HUGE fan of Points Programs.

I collect points from diapers, labels from baby food, and accumulate points on all sorts of store loyalty cards.

BP gas stations are running a Thank You Days promotion until March 1, 2011, and you could get a $10 gift card for FREE gas if you participate.

Here’s how to get your $10 BP Reward Card:

  1. Purchase 8 gallons or more of any grade of BP fuel and present your receipt to the on-site cashier to get a Loyalty Card.
  2. Scratch the card to reveal a unique code.
  3. Enter the code on this website.
  4. Once you have filled up 5 times and entered 5 Loyalty Card codes, you will be mailed your $10 BP Reward Card in approximately 4-6 weeks.

A fill up consists of purchasing 8 gallons or more of any grade of BP fuel.

Limit three (3) $10 BP Reward Cards per person and/or email address per household.

I would suggest checking to make sure they have the “loyalty card” scratch cards before buying gas, and also don’t wait until near the end date of the promotion, or they may run out of the cards altogether.

BP *has* run out of cards in the past week around here. But the station owners claim that BP won’t let them take the promotion signs off the pump. Can you say “false advertising”? I’ve entered 3 cards and needed 2 more, and paid a premium for the BP gas to get those over the past month. They had my loyalty for 2 months and have now lost it for life. Hopefully everyone who reads this will similarly opt-out of BP gas for life.

I bought gas at a BP and when I went inside to get my loyaty card they said they’ve been out for 4 days and BP wasn’t going to print anymore. She did say I could try another location,and when I went to a different one she said they were out as well. So basiially you’re screwed for the promotion. If I had known there wasn’t anymore, I would’ve gone to Citgo. I need 2 more points and now the three I got are worthless

I also had the same problem with the station running out of loyality cards. I contacted bpthankyoudays.com and was told to read the disclaimer stating that the promo ends when “loyalitycards are exhausted” However I beleive that BP didn’t anticipate the response to the promo. It may be time to get the lawyers involved.

I have gone out of my way to make five purchases of 8 gallons or more. I have four cards and I stopped to get my last card on Feb. 25th. I choose the station because they still had all of the promotion signage displayed outside the building. However, when I went in to collect my last card I was told that the station had run out of cards ten days earlier (Feb 15th). I asked for the nearest BP station that still had cards and the employee said that he believed that no BP station had cards.

These BP stations still have the signs up stating that “This BP station is independently owned and operated.” This was in response to the negative publicity BP generated with the well blow-out in the Gulf of Mexico.

The parent company, BP, has little interest in fulfilling their obligations, so we consumers have only one option and that is to boycott the independent owner/operators. They have been receiving many complaints and they are not very happy with BP.

Purchase your gasoline from a competitor and give a copy of your receipts to the independent operator to show him the business he has lost. You can also submit a complaint with your state attorney general’s office.

I did not have any trouble getting my cards from BP. I earned enough cards to get my 3 ten dollar cards. I also earned enough to get my daughter 3 cards. BP has been loyal and has already sent our cards to us. All we have to do now is go get some more gas. Thanks BP! 60.00 dollars worth of free gas is GREAT for us. Have a Great day. What a crock of —-. I bought gas at bp stations and went online to insert the cards at the bp site. I have not got one card, the rotten sons of &^%*%$ owe me three. They do not reply to email. *&(^& bp.

Keith, I edited your response. You don’t need to use bad language on my coupon site to express your frustration with an oil company. I’m sorry the promo didn’t go well for you, but that happens sometimes.

I too was swindled. I fell victim to the advertising and it turned out to be too good to be true. I should have known, after seeing BP’s response to the gulf situation. By the way, dont’ waste your time emailing them. It’s interesting 2 note that thankyoudays.com had a bad SSL certificate for the life of the promotion, and that site never had a contact us page or email address to send problems to. If you go to bp.com and submit a message you may or may not get a response back and if you do it will take weeks. The bottom line is that BP was too busy focusing on other things and couldn’[t devote the proper attention to this promotion. Stations ran out of loyalty cards and never took down the signs. I ancitipate State Attorneys General getting involved. I know that I filed a complaint here in Wisconsin. Take care, Fr.

I never noticed the SSL cert on the site. I do know that some people were successful with the promo, but unfortunately it seems many other people were NOT successful. I think they wanted something “good” for their image after the Gulf spill, but perhaps this wasn’t it!

I have been waiting for 6 months….. Really BP? you destroyed our oceans and then promise gift cards that will never be sent????? Amazing….. scammers!

my friend and I have been waiting since January for 6 cards.. It really takes more than 5 months to send a card???? Not fair… we redeem them on time and went out of our way to get gas in this BP station… and now have to wait who knows for how long……. Not very happy…..
