A project five years in the making, the public release of the Five Year Recipe Book brings tasty reader-submitted recipes together to offer delicious inspiration in the categories of soup, salads and side dishes as well as main dishes and desserts.

Compiled by Charity Mouck of, these 27 original recipes submitted in 2006 form this author’s first book. A paid version of the book has been available for a short time as an early-bird special on, but the Five Year Recipe Book is now being offered to readers for free download in PDF, Kindle, iPad and Nook formats.

 About the Book:

Mouck, an avid blogger since 2002, solicited original recipes from her readers in 2006. As a participant in an annual blogging fundraiser, the recipes were collected with the intention of being compiled into an eBook. After five years, the recipes were brushed off and compiled into a 43-page PDF publication that was then converted into various eReader formats for distribution.

The recipes are categorized into four sections: Soups, Salads & Side Dishes, Main Dishes, Desserts, and a unique section simply entitled “Special”. In addition to the recipes and various Creative Commons licensed photos, several pictures of family pets are shared. Mouck was raising money for the Terre Haute Humane Society at the time of the recipe collection, and readers were invited to submit pictures of their pets as well as the recipes.

The recipes, many of which are family recipes, are largely unedited but provide clear directions and inspiration for culinary adventure. Simple ingredients, straight-forward instructions and random reader commentary make this a fun and encouraging read.
