I started learning to use coupons and save money in 2010 when we adopted our daughter. I also started this website that year so I could share tips & tricks about saving money.
These past 4 years have been full of coupon clipping, sale planning and ad watching, and it’s all been totally worth it.
Sometimes I wonder exactly how much money I have saved. Even though I’ll never know the exact amount of my savings, I do know that its been substantial. Especially when you think about the expense of raising two babies! Formula, baby food, diapers, wipes and everything else babies need really adds up! My use of coupons made this season in our lives much more affordable.
I did something a few weeks ago that I thought I would never do…
I deleted a digital coupon for diapers from my Kroger card!
My second child is fully potty trained now (except for nighttime, which we will work on in a few months), and I love not having to always be on the look out for diaper coupons, diaper sales and diaper deals too good to pass up. I still notice these coupons and sales, of course, but I no longer have to worry about getting this particular item stocked up for as cheaply as possible.
My diaper deals were always a source of pride since I was able to diaper my kids cheaper than Amazon or even Sam’s Club sales. Sure, it took a little bit of effort and planning, but when saving money is involved – I’ll do it!
My overall coupon use has dipped a bit this past year as we stopped buying diapers and started shopping at ALDI more, but I still plan each shopping trip and work to match my meal planning with sales and what I have in the pantry. Not having to buy diapers has had a huge impact on my grocery budget, and I am thankful to no longer have to focus on providing this particular item for my family.
I know the expense of the diapers will be replaced by the expense of caring for my growing children’s needs and wants, but for now I am content not having to clip those coupons and hunt those diaper deals any more.
What about you? Have you been able to stop shopping for something like this?
Getting out of the diaper days was a goal of mine for a long time, and I am so glad to be DONE.
Bye, bye diaper coupons…I won’t miss you!
